Stories from Homewood
Bring the peace you wish to find.
Welcome to Homewood
Pam and I have one child, Aaron, now 36, the hero of these stories (his ten-year-old fictional sister, KJ, will join him in Book 2). Most books aimed at our son’s elementary years had quite a lot of violence, fear, and fantastic challenges (recovering the sword, finding the lost land, learning from wizards, all to defeat something truly scary and evil). These stories have a valuable place, but some years ago I started working on a series of adventure stories that made the “bad guys” the real world challenges of maintaining honesty, loyalty, and commitments. My former students will no doubt recall how we focused on these values in my classroom. I hope you enjoy them, especially since there’s no homework. Yet.
Twelve-year-old Aaron hated moving to his new home outside of town. Sure, he still went to the same school and kept his same friends, but being out in the country felt like living on a different planet.
After a bit of exploring, however, Aaron discovers the secret world of Homewood filled with adventure, talking animals, and new friends.
Aaron soon finds that his promise to keep Homewood safe becomes quite a challenge. Balancing his world with the needs of his new friends turns out to be much more difficult than he had imagined.
